2010 Programme (available for download)

2010 List of Participants (available for download)

We expect approximately 100 investigators and trainees in the fields of genetic epidemiology, statistical genetics and population genetics. Scientific sessions will focus on:

Methodologic opportunities and challenges in the genomic era: from studies of pedigrees to GWAS and beyond.
Population and evolutionary genetics of infectious disease.
Epigenetics and complex disease.
Ground-breaking studies and approaches for the characterization of genetic risk factors in complex traits and special populations.

In addition to the scientific sessions, three one-hour long educational sessions are being planned to bring together participants (invited speakers, investigators and trainees) to discuss/learn about a topic of interest to the community. The general themes being considered are:

Biomarkers and intermediate markers in genetic epidemiology. Background materials*:
  • Gene–environment-wide association studies: emerging approaches
  • Use of pathway information in molecular epidemiology

* If you registered for this session and would like to obtain these materials, please contact Esther Berzunza at estherig@sickkids.

How to write a paper.
Potential use of genetic information in risk prediction.
